Meeting June 8thDon't forget that we will be meeting on Saturday, June 8, at 1:00 P.M. at Titletown! See you there! Rackers Announce SPECIAL CATEGORY for the 2014 Titletown Open - Get Brewing NOW!Twenty years is always a cause for celebration whether its a birthday, wedding anniversary, getting out of prison, or hosting a homebrew competition. The Rackers announce a SPECIAL CATEGORY for next years TTO XX - called the "20-Plato Challenge". This will be a separate category with the only requirement being that the OG has to be 20 Plato or better (that's an OG of 1.083 for those of us who don't use Plato as our standard for determining OG.) This will be a single-bottle only entry and entry fee will be required -meaning RACKERS cannot use this entry as their 'free-bie". These will be judged in a 'best of show' manner - NOT against the BJCP style guidelines. It is basically a "may the best tasting beer win" category and separate awards will be given for the category. So, start brewing that Imperial IPA, Eisbock, Old Ale, Barleywine, or other favorite 'kick em in the nuts' high gravity beer you love and admire! Homebrewing Legal in All 50 States! The AHA is reporting that the governor of Alabama has signed a bill making homebrewing legal at last. Mississippi has done the same, although their law won't go into effect until July 1. At that point homebrewing will officially be legal in all 50 states. Just think, it only took 80 years after prohibition and 35 years after President Carter made it legal on a Federal level. |
